Modern Chinese Family Culture (After Communist)Summary
Suicide girls from China...When the Communist came in, they created a significant change to China by passing the One Child Policy in 1979. The policy means that each Chinese family can only have one child, regardless if it a boy or girl. This is where all hell breaks loose, because this changes the whole foundation of a family. Before, every member in the family can rely on each other to support them in the family business, or having somebody to fall on. Now, the pressure is much higher, because each Chinese family has only one hope to survive, and hopefully that hope is a boy. This adds more pressure on to the women than before. With more pressure, it translates into an increasing number of suicides. According to WHO (World Health Organization), every four minutes a woman in China commits suicide. This number is weight heavily in country areas than in the cities; this due the fact of lesser education in the countryside. As a country, more women commit suicide than men (common sense). If a woman cannot give birth to a boy, she will probably get an abortion. Here is a disturbing fact. Some women do not have enough money, and know that they are having a girl. The women will take their fetus to the market and sell it. Many of the restaurants will actually buy fetus to serve as food to some customers. I don't know where they are selling it, but the best bet will be in Guangdong. If you are into that, by all mean enjoy. For the people that don't, which include me, we should get in contact will each other, and hunt the people who do. You can contact me here (another successful attempt to promote the website).
You need to learn how to share with your brother...The One Child Policy produces a first generation in China that a child grows up without a sibling. As a result, there are a lot of bad effects come out of this. For starter, this policy creates selfish people. Most psychologists argue that people born without siblings will not able to learn how share or compromise with one another. Before, Chinese family is responsible for each other, but now, everyone goes for his own benefit. Adding to the situation, the parents will try to satisfy the child every need. The Chinese people call this generation as "the generation of little emperors." Meaning that the kid will get whatever he/she wants and the parents will bend over to provide it. When the infant grows up, he/she is pretty much careless about other people. As the results, there are a number of increases in children starting to move out and live one’s own. Unlike, before when the child will stay home and take care of the elderly in the house, young people start to move out to live with their significant other. In the modern day, it is very common to see unmarried couples living with each other. Even if the child takes up the responsibility of his/her family, it has become impossible, because the lifestyle becomes too expensive. Why, you may ask? Let us think about it for a second. A single child grows up, he/she has to take care of 4 grandparent plus 2 parents. The ratio comes out about 1 person supports every 6 people. This ratio is only good in casino.
It's not you, it's me...Another bad result is that without the knowledge of compromise or sharing, the number of divorce cases increase in China every year. Divorce used to be a myth in Chinese family culture, but currently it is rising about 50% every year. Sorry, I will not include the exact number, due to the fact there are others website that can do a better statistic than I am. However, I do know that in 2006, China finally have a website put up to give advice and help all the divorce victims. As you may have guess, the visitors come like hot cakes. Sigh, I wish my visitors come like hot cakes and you are (thank you). I have to make a joke somewhere (hehe). After reading this article, you may think that I do not like Communist very much. I can only reply that I only love the people of China. Hope, I provide enough information to you. This is long article so take your time. From where I am and wherever you are, have a happy New Year and good luck everyone.
