From the Midwest to the Far East

Growing up in Ohio, cultural diversity and an international mindset are hard to come by. For the past 8 years, I've chaged all that!

So, why do I travel so much? I think Samuel Johnson sums it up best when he said;

"The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are."

I now see things how they really are in a foreign land. My time abroad has change my life forever.

My name is Jessop Petroski and I am officially a global citizen.

Eight years ago, I went to Tokyo, Japan for three months over my summer holiday during college. Up until that time, I had zero knowledge or much of an interest in Japan or all of Asia for that matter. My first summer threw me into a world that completely changed the way I look at life and the course that my life would take upon graduating college.

In 2003 after graduating with my Bachelor's degree, I immediately went back to Japan. My life was ahead of me and I was determined to make Asia a part of it. Over the next couple of years I lived in both Japan and Thailand and also travelled throughout many countries in Asia. By actually living and working there, I was able to gain invaluable experiences and unique realtionships. I became a part of the society and even felt as if in some ways, I had become partially Japanese and Thai.

My experiences in Asia will stay with me forever, but if you would like to have a taste of my experience as well, you can do so through my website at jessopportfolio.webs.com.
